The winter season is great time to play dress up. Layering with stylish coats, scarves, hats and boots are back on the scene. However, playing dress up should not just be limited to your wardrobe. Here is how you can switch up your living room this Winter to keep on trend whilst beating the chills.

The Winter chill is in full swing and cuddling up on the couch after a long day or over the weekend seems to be on everybody's to do list. Getting your home Winter ready by making it nice and cosy sometimes takes more than just a few throws and that trusted heater. Let's take a look at easy, no fuss ways of sprucing up your lounge this winter. Perfect for the small games nights with friends or a weekend curled up on the couch. This is how you can get winter ready.
Introduce warm colours and high contrast
Now before you get ahead of yourself and decide to paint your wall or reupholster your couch, remember we said NO FUSS. Sure if you have been thinking of changing your wall colour or couch we fully encourage that but for the purpose of this piece we would like to keep this switch up simple and as close to cost effective as possible.
Introduce colour and contrast by simply changing your scatter cushion covers and adding some warmer accessories to the room by means of throws and decorative pieces. Look at pairing a cool colour with a warm colour. A win in winter is always green and burgundy, these two colours work beautiful when trying to create warmth in a space. Mustard is a more neutral, earthy addition but gives a great lift to a room.

Texture, texture, texture!
Texture does everything for a room. In some very strange way , the type of textures you use in a space makes the aesthetics of a room feel a certain kind of way some times without physically being in the room. There is just something about suede, faux furs and woven elements that make a room look and feel cosy. Texture also adds a lot of dimension and interest to the room.
This season bring in some faux fur, woven throws or scatters and some suede or the very chic and trendy velvet. The great thing about adding small bits of texture to your space is it is easy to pack away after the season and pull out next Winter.

Make a statement, Choose metallics and patterns
Pattern makes it to the top of this list, simply because a little goes a long way. Pattern makes a statement all on its own. It gives the room character and adds an always necessary spunk to the space. The best part about introducing pattern into your space is you do not need to be excessive to be effective.
Metallics like gold, bronze and brass are also super trendy and add a bit of luxury as well as warmth. Bring some metallics in with some picture frames, candle holders, candles and trays. This is inexpensive and for the most part, small items. Here is an added benefit, these work for every season if you choose the right pieces.
